Xavier Gens directed the saucy little horror flick FRONTIER(S) and the uneven video game action flick HITMAN, two films that couldn’t more different, both in terms of content and quality. So is Gens a solid director or a one-hit-wonder? He’s currently cranking out a movie called THE DIVIDE (formerly THE FALLOUT) to prove to the world he really is as good as we think he should be.
The Winnipeg Free Press busted out some details as to THE DIVIDE, as the film is currently filming in Winnipeg right now. So what’s THE DIVIDE all about? Check this out: [The film is] set in New York, which is virtually destroyed in a mysterious explosion in the first act. Eight survivors take refuge in the fallout shelter of an apartment building, where they are menaced first by mysterious men in HazMat suits and eventually by each other.
Nice! A little apocalyptic thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat. Sounds cool. Plus, apparently it’ll be more along the lines of FRONTIER(S) than HITMAN, which is a relief to us all.
But it gets better than just a cool premise. Let’s talk about the cast. The film stars Lauren German (below), Rosanna Arquette, Courtney B. Vance, Milo Ventimiglia, and the great Michael Biehn! BIEHN!!!!! It’s casts like this that make me excited for a flick about the end of the world. German is hot, Arquette has talent, Vance and Ventimiglia are rising TV stars, and muf*ckin’ Biehn is da man. Excellent….
German plays the main character in the film, where Biehn and Ventimiglia may actually be the film’s bad guys–which would be fantastic. Now that it’s currently filming, the big question remains: when can we expect to see THE DIVIDE in theaters? That’s one bit of information we’re gonna have to wait for…
