LUCY was a surprise hit at the box office this summer, grossing over $100 million domestically, and $170 million worldwide. Not too shabby for an original movie with a $40 million budget. Some have wondered if there will be sequel because of its impressive box office run, but while speaking to local media in Taipei recently, director Luc Besson said it's unlikely he will make a second movie.

It's not made for that. If I find something good enough, maybe I will, but for now I don't even think about it.

Besson goes on to say he believes one of the reasons LUCY did so well at the box office was because of its late summer release date.

We arrived at the end of it (summer) with something totally weird and strange. So at least it gives a little bit of freshness.

Just because a movie has a solid run at the box office doesn't mean it needs a sequel, and while I think there are a couple of ways a second film could work, I'm glad one isn't being developed. Are you cool with just one movie, or are you interested in seeing a sequel to LUCY?
