With Emma Watson no longer in contention for the role in Disney’s live action version of CINDERELLA, director Kenneth Branagh is looking at potential actresses to try the glass slipper on for size. Deadline is reporting the names of three of the candidates for the role are Bella Heathcote, Margot Robbie, and Lily James.

All three actresses are in their early 20s and are not instantly recognizable as an Emma Watson would have been. Bella Heathcote’s biggest role to date was opposite Johnny Depp in Tim Burton‘s DARK SHADOWS. Margot Robbie co-starred on ABC’s short lived PAN AM and will make her big screen splash this year in both Richard Curtis‘ sci-fi romance ABOUT TIME and Martin Scorsese‘s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET. Lily James had a small role in WRATH OF THE TITANS and also played Lady Rose McClure on the most recent season of DOWNTON ABBEY.

All three ladies are pretty and I can see each of them playing the role, but Margot Robbie has the most Hollywood look of the three and would fit nicely with the classic Disney princess mold. It also depends on who plays the prince of which it is rumored GAME OF THRONES’ very own Robb Stark, Richard Madden, is in contention. Cate Blanchett is also set to play Cinderella’s wicked stepmother.

Kenneth Branagh will begin filming CINDERELLA once he wraps on JACK RYAN, so we will learn soon who the lucky lady shall be.
