Official Latin America Disney+ Twitter account shades Star Wars sequel trilogy

An official Disney+ Twitter account from Latin America, likely with an intern who has a good sense of humor, is throwing a little shade at Star Wars fans who think the sequel trilogy is the best.

The Disney+ Latin America Twitter page posted a joke about the sequel trilogy using the recent viral ‘red flag’ meme. The ‘red flag’ meme involves users playfully sharing behavior they consider to be worrying by adding the ‘red flag’ emoji to a post or text. On a recent Twitter post, the Disney+ Latine America account wrote, “The latest Stars trilogy is the best” before inserting a plethora of red flag emojis in the caption. This was probably all done in good fun but this is bound to trigger some Star Wars fans that love the sequel trilogy and garner laughs from those who thought the sequel trilogy was lacking. Both sides tend to be very passionate about the world George Lucas created and then sold off to Disney.

At the end of the day, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker will be the subject of pop culture debate, praise, and ridicule in equal measure for years to come. J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens seems to be best received amongst the fans as it brought about some serious nostalgia for the original trilogy, particularly A New Hope. Some say it’s just a standard rehash of that film but it definitely doesn’t have as many naysayers as the next two installments. Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi was praised by critics but was met with a polarizing response from diehard Star Wars fans. In the case of The Rise of Skywalker, many critics that praised The Last Jedi were of the opinion that director J.J. Abrams ignored much of what Johnson had established in the previous film and tried to make The Rise of Skywalker a more fan-friendly experience. Hardcore fans seemed to enjoy the conclusion of the sequel trilogy more than The Last Jedi but I’d still say the overall reaction was a bit more mixed in the end.

So I have to ask, if a Star Wars fan called the sequel trilogy the best films of the franchise, would YOU consider that a red flag?
