Disney reschedules The New Mutants for an August 28 theatrical release

Stop me if you've heard this one, okay? Disney has set a new premiere date of August 28 for the theatrical release of Fox/Marvel's THE NEW MUTANTS.

Prevously, the film was slated for release on dates that include April 13, 2018; February 22, 2019; August 2, 2019; and April 3 of this year. In other words, it's easy to understand why some will have trouble believing that the film will indeed hit its latest release assignment. Be that as it may, Disney's plan is to now unleash the mutant-centric horror film from director Josh Boone for a pre-Labor Day weekend debut.

In THE NEW MUTANTS, five young mutants, who are just discovering their abilities while being held in a secret facility against their will, must fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.Written by Boone and Knate Lee (THE STAND), New Mutants stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton and Alice Braga.

In addition to unveiling THE NEW MUTANTS latest release date, Disney also transported 20th Century Studios’ animated feature RON'S GONE WRONG from February 26, 2021 to April 23, 2021. Set in a world where walking, talking, digitally connected bots have become children's best friends, RON'S GONE WRONG tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who finds that his robot buddy doesn't quite work. The film is directed by Jean-Philippe Vine and co-directed by Octavio Rodriguez, and stars Jack Dylan Grazer (SHAZAM!, IT), Thomas Barbusca (THE MICK), Bentley Kalu (RED 2, EDGE OF TOMORROW), and Ava Morse (SURPRISE ME!).

What do y'all think? Is THE NEW MUTANTS finally going to hit theaters on August 28? Are you still excited to see the movie after all this time and drama? I certainly am. In fact, I hope the movie exceeds everyone's expectations, thereby making all this back and forth well worth the wait.
