Disney unveils the Black Order & debuts Infinity War teaser at D23

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Disney’s live-action panel closed out with not just a bang, but a nuclear explosion of awesomeness as they unleashed the first teaser for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. If that doesn’t sound amazing enough, they followed up said footage with an unveiling of Thanos’ children, a.k.a the Black Order, a super team of villains that will assist him in his crushing of the Avengers.

Here's the D23 exclusive poster:

Though the teaser will remain hidden from the public for some time, we can show you some pictures of Thanos actor Josh Brolin at the D23 panel, holding the almighty Infinity Gauntlet:

As tremendously cool as that is the big takeaway was the teaser, and though we cannot show you the actual footage several outlets on hand have summarized the major details, of which include:

*POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR THOR: RAGNAROK BELOW!*

  • The preview starts with the Guardians of the Galaxy traversing a strange area of space. Suddenly, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) crashes onto their ship and is brought aboard. He then awakens and asks, "Who the hell are you guys?"
  • Then it cuts to Earth, where Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is making trouble in the neighborhood with a reacquired Tesseract.
  • Peter Parker (Tom Holland), on a bus in New York, begins to sense the hairs on his arm standing up (discovering the Spider-Sense?).
  • Captain America (Chris Evans) is sporting a beard and looking haggard from time on the run.
  • Thanos – wearing the Gauntlet- tears off a piece of a moon for an epic battle to be staged.
  • Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and the Guardians face off against Thanos on said space rock.

End footage – and que nerdgasm.

Obviously, your imagination will have to fill in the gaps, but holy crap is that not amazing. Apparently, the audience thought yes, as the footage brought everyone to their feet with rousing cheers and praise. No word yet on when the footage will debut, but chances are we won’t see it until later this holiday season.

This footage description alone has made this my most anticipated movie ever, as it promises to deliver exactly what we’ve been waiting ten years for. Just picturing Iron Man battling alongside the Guardians is enough to make me want to pass out from geek overload, and the fact we will actually witness it in less than a year is too much to handle. I have to rest.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR arrives May 4, 2018.
