Some brief but encouraging news (following up on THIS article from a few weeks back) for all our international friends hoping to get a look at the Guillermo del Toro-produced DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK at some point this year: Screen Daily reports that the horror flick has sold to almost every imaginable territory at EFM, meaning that we’ll all get to partake in the creepy nocturnal thriller at some point this year.

The film, which already has an AUGUST 12th release date in the US, stars Bailee Madison, Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes (pictured below) and was directed by Troy Nixey. Del Toro co-wrote the script with Matthew Robbins.

Per Screen Daily, the deals include Germany (Telepool), UK (Optimum), France (TF1), Scandinavia (Mis.Label), Spain (Tripictures), Italy (Lucky Red), Latin America (Cine Y Video), Benelux (Dutch Filmworks), Australia/New Zealand (Hopscotch), Japan (Pony Canyon), South Korea (Showtime), CIS (West Video), Poland (Best Film), Czech and Slovak Republic (Hollywood Classics), Former Yugoslavia (MCF), Portugal (Lusomundo), Hong Kong (Sundream), Singapore (Golden Village), Malaysia (Megafilm), Philippines (Pioneer) and South Africa (Nu Metro).

Hopefully that covers just about everybody! Check out our early review of the film HERE, and revisit the awesome teaser below!
