Don’t Peek: horror short to be turned into feature by Timur Bekmambetov

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So this is interesting! Deadline reports that the popular SXSW Animal Crossing-based horror film Don't Peekwhich we actually reported on last year – will be getting the feature film treatment from genre filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter)!

Meanwhile, here's the official synopsis of the short, written and directed by indie filmmaker Julian Terry and starring Katie Cetta:

The short follows a young woman discovering a frightening video game character intent on crossing into the real world.

Now, it's unlikely that Nintendo would be down for an official crossover with Animal Crossing – especially for something as horrific as Don't Peek is – so it will be interesting what fake game for the upcoming feature will look like. Or, even more crazy, finding out Nintendo is willing to play ball! We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.

So what do you guys think? Fans of the original short? If so, looking forward to a feature-length version of it? Either way, sound off below!
