Downey joins Foxx

JoBloJoBlo

Robert Downey, Jr. has signed on to co-star with Jamie Foxx in the upcoming drama THE SOLOIST. The film will star Foxx as a schizophrenic, homeless, Oscar-hungry violinist who develops a relationship with Steve Lopez, a LA Times writer (Downey) who helps develop his music through his illness. Joe Wright (ATONEMENT) will direct from a script by Susannah Grant (ERIN BROCKOVICH). While Foxx is known for his musical prowess, Downey is also a musician in his own right and released the album “The Futurist” on Sony Classical in 2004. He describes the music as being “highbrow pop with jazz and classical influences” which is slightly different than Jamie Foxx’s songs “Peep This” and “Can I Take U Home.” The film is based on the LA Times articles as well as the early draft of a memoir written by Lopez. Filming is scheduled to begin in January but I’m sure production on the “For Your Consideration” ads have already begun.
