Dracula’s castle looms in this new, blood-curdling poster for Castlevania

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Okay, let's get this out of the way so that we both understand one another, I f*cking love the Castlevania video game series! My Dad bought me the first installment of the widely popular video game series when I was just six-years-old (for the Nintendo Entertainment System), and since then, I've played and beaten every entry in the series. My favorite, beyond the shadow of a doubt, is Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the Playstation. If I were marooned on a desert island, and was only allowed to bring a fistful of games to keep my sanity, Symphony would most certainly be among that pile.

Yesterday, Adi Shankar revealed a cool new poster for his forthcoming CASTLEVANIA Netflix series which is expected to debut on the premiere streaming network later this year. It will be an animated presentation that centers on "the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself."

Furthermore, Shankar also revealed that the show will act as an adaptation of the classic NES game Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Phew! Thank goodness it's not based upon Castlevania II: Simon's Quest – one of the most infuriating games in the series. It's also to note that Shankar has likened his series to be "done in the vein of GAME OF THRONES", whatever that means. To be fair, HBO's swords and sorcery series really has become something of a benchmark for high-fantasy entertainment in recent years, so it's cool to know that Shankar's aspirations for this project are that ambitious.

Netflix's CASTLEVANIA series will debut with Season 1, Part 1 later this year, with the entire presentation being broken up into four parts, each episode will have a runtime of nearly 30 minutes.
