While MAX PAYNE is getting ready to defy expectations and make a quality transition from videogame to big-screen feature, one of the flick’s producers, Scott Faye, is prepping another famed character’s move to the live-action world: Duke Nukem.
Faye talked to Kotaku and let them know it’s in the very early stages at the moment: “I’m working diligently at making a Duke Nukem movie scenario that will live up to the character and its import in the videogame world…As is the case with all of my game adaptations, I’d rather not make the movie than make a poor adaptation.”
“More than ever before, I feel that the feature adaptation of Duke Nukem will come to together nicely.”
In most of his videogame incarnations, Duke Nukem has been an alien-killing badass in the Sly Stallone/Kurt Russell mold. In fact, a young Russell would be absolutely perfect for the character, but since no motherf*ckin’ body has invented a time machine yet, we’ll have to make do with our current crop of cinematic badboys. I don’t have a candidate at the moment, so sorry is our crop of “action heroes” nowadays…
