Duncan Jones hopes sci-fi thriller Mute will be his next film after Warcraft

Director Duncan Jones has been trying to get his BLADE RUNNER-esque sci-fi thriller MUTE made for a long time, and at one point was considering turning it into a graphic novel. But in a recent tweet, Jones said he wants to take another crack at MUTE after completing work on his upcoming WARCRAFT.

Duncan Jones is of course referring to Terry Gilliam's forever-in-development THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE, which last we knew still might get made, but at this point who knows what is going to happen with Gilliam's passion project.

MUTE would follow a silent bartender in Berlin who ends up fighting with the city's gangsters while searching for his kidnapped girlfriend. It's also been said it would be set in the same universe as Duncan Jones' MOON. The problem is financiers think the project is a risk since the lead character won't say a single word in the film, and only communicates by writing things down.

I remember first hearing about MUTE and thinking it was a cool idea for a film. Even if Duncan Jones isn't able to make MUTE directly after WARCRAFT I hope he doesn't give up on the interesting sounding project.

Duncan Jones' WARCRAFT starring Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper and Toby Kebbell will be in theaters on March 11, 2016.
