Dwayne Johnson says we will see Black Adam battle Superman and Batman

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Dwayne Johnson has been teasing us about his role as Black Adam in SHAZAM! for quite a long time. At one point, we were worried that we would not be seeing the actor formerly known as The Rock within the DC Cinematic Universe, but Johnson put those fears to rest with his recent comments to Total Film.

Johnson reiterated his statements that Black Adam would be both a villain and an anti-hero who will bring winking humor to the DC films coming over the next half decade. But, he also confirmed what we all wanted to hear.

“It was all agreed that the worlds are all interconnected. One day you will see Black Adam go at it with Superman or Batman or any of the DC characters.”

Through his career, Dwayne Johnson has primarily played heroes but he has shown a dark edge in movies like DOOM and FASTER that could hint at great things from his portrayal of Black Adam. At the very least, we now know we will see someone with the physical stature to look like he could go toe to toe with Superman.

SHAZAM! is slated to hit theaters on April 5, 2019.
