“American Horror Story” has opened quite the genre portal for sir Dylan McDermott.

After recently learning McDermott will star in the adaptation of Stephen King’s MERCY, word has hit today that the actor will be stuck in a damn FREEZER for director Mikael Salomon (“Band of Brothers”). Put simply, it sounds like BURIED, but in a giant ice-box. Can’t be too fun, can it?!

Scripted by Tom Doganoglu and Shane Weisfeld:

FREEZER centers on an everyday guy (McDermott) who finds himself tested beyond human endurance when he awakens to find himself locked in an industrial freezer by Russian thugs. They insist he returns the $8 million he stole from them — the only problem is, he has no idea what they are talking about. As he fights for his life before freezing to death, the truth slowly reveals itself.

An industrial freezer? Russian thugs? A mission 8 million? I’m getting it’s a so-bad-it’s-good vibe right from jump. But given DM’s genre embracement, and given Salomon’s track record (he shot a ton of great movies as DP), FREEZER just may be a good f*cking time. What says you?

FREEZER will be produced by Lee Nelson and David Buelow for Envision Media. The flick starts shooting this month in Edmonton, Alberta.

Chloe Sevigny got served in AHS: Asylum!
