Dylan O’Brien mocks the latest Morbius release delay

At this point, all of the delays that Morbius has endured feel a bit comical, and perhaps actor Dylan O’Brien feels the same way. The Sony Pictures Marvel release has suffered a total of seven delays at this point and the primary culprit has seemingly been the COVID-19 pandemic. Its last delay, which had the film opening on January 28, 2022, seemed like a sure thing but the latest Omicron variant surge reportedly caused Sony to shift the release date, yet again, by three months to April 1, 2022. Since that date is April Fools Day, I’ll believe it when I see it, but the actor is having a bit of fun a the film’s expense due to its latest release date change.

The Teen Wolf and Maze Runner star took to Twitter to sarcastically comment on the film’s most recent delay and he said that Sony delayed the movie again because it’s “super good” and that audiences “aren’t able to handle it yet.” It’s all in good fun but, in all honesty, his tweet pretty much sums up my feelings about the movie at this point because it’s getting close to The King’s Man status in terms of how long we’ve seen marketing materials for the film since the announcement of its original release date. You can check out Dylan O’Brien’s tweet below!

Morbius has suffered several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film’s original release date was July 10, 2020, which was then shifted to July 31, 2020. From there the film was pushed to March 19, 2021, and then to October 8, 2021. After that delay, the film saw another release date shift to January 21, 2022, and from there Morbius was moved, what seemed like one last time, to January 28, 2022. Will this last release date of April 1, 2022, stick? We’ll have to wait and see.

In the film, Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) becomes a vampire after attempting to cure himself of a rare blood disease. Directed by Daniel Espinosa, the cast also includes Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.

Are YOU still interested in seeing Morbius, or are you more in Dylan O’Brien’s camp?
