DC’s Dynamic Duo release pushed back, plus Gremlins 3 delayed by nearly a year

A little release date shuffle on this fine Wednesday evening, as Warner Bros. has made some changes to its upcoming schedule. First up, Dynamic Duo, the DC origin movie that follows the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, is moving its release from June 30, 2028 to September 22, 2028. Also, the new Gremlins movie directed by Chris Columbus has been pushed back by nearly a full year. It was previously slated to hit theaters on November 19, 2027 and will now be released on October 6, 2028.

Dynamic Duo

I’m very curious about Dynamic Duo as the film will be animated in a unique fashion. The project will use a technology called Momo Animation, which is described as a cross between stop-motion puppetry, CGI animation, and live-action real-time performance.

Dynamic Duo will be made by Swaybox, a new animation studio set up by Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson. The film “follows the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd aka the Robins. The duo call themselves the Dynamic Duo. They’re orphan thieves, best friends who share dreams of a better life, but their friendship will be tested by competing visions of a future out of which will come a new Dynamic Duo….” Mintz will direct the movie from a script by Matthew Aldrich.

Gremlins 3

It’s been over 35 years since the release of the last Gremlins movie. There’s been talk of a third film for years, but it never seemed to get off the ground.

However, the long-awaited sequel was finally confirmed last year, with Chris Columbus directing the film. Hannah Marks is writing the script from an early draft by Columbus and Final Destination Bloodlines filmmakers Zach Lipovsky & Adam B. Stein. Plot details for this one are being kept under wraps, but Columbus has teased that traditional puppets and animatronics will still be used. No CGI Gizmo for us.
