A teaser trailer has just been released for Eddie Murphy’s new film A THOUSAND WORDS. Calling it a new film is a bit of a stretch actually, as it’s been sitting on a shelf for years. (It wrapped production back in 2008!) Never a good sign when a studio sits on a film like this, but it’s finally making it out.
The concept is simple enough. Murphy plays a liar and blabbermouth who is cursed by a stereotypical Indian doctor after he goes back on his word. The spooky doctor curses Murphy and a tree grows in his backyard, a magical tree whose leaves are linked to Murphy’s speech. Every time he speaks a word a leaf falls off, and when all the leaves are gone, so is Murphy. And there’s about a thousand leaves left.
So basically you’ve got a film that’s entirely made up of Murphy making funny faces and hand gestures, trying not to talk. It might’ve worked in the eighties, but now…
A THOUSANDS WORDS hits theaters March 23, 2012. Check out the trailer below.
