Edgar Wright and Johnny Depp team up for Neil Gaiman’s Fortunately, the Milk

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A little over a year ago, Neil Gaiman released a children's book titled "Fortunately, the Milk". The book tells "a story of time travel and breakfast cereal," and kicks off with a father going to the store in order to buy some milk but he returns with wild tales of aliens, space-time travel, pirates, and more. Fox is in early talks to aquire the property and THR reports that the potential film could have some serious talent behind it.

The outlet reports that Edgar Wright and Johnny Depp are teaming up to adapt the project and they've got Bret McKenzie on board to pen the script. As of now, the plan is for Edgar Wright to direct the picture with Johnny Depp starring and producing in what is said to be a live-action/animation hybrid. It's still early yet, but the project, and the talent behind it, is attracting quite a lot of attention.

Before Edgar Wright tackles aliens, pirates, time-travel, and Johnny Depp, the director's next project will be BABY DRIVER, which follows "a young, talented getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best. After being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom." The film stars Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jamie Foxx, and Jon Hamm and production on BABY DRIVER is expected to get underway later this year for a March 17, 2017 release.

Those of you who have read "Fortunately, the Milk", is there a lot of potential for a film adaptation?
