Efron is Seventeen

JoBloJoBlo

There is no doubt that Zac Efron is currently in the process of ‘breaking out’ Sure, he’s already starred in the biggest made-for-TV movie ever, Disney’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, but other than tweens and their obedient parents, who’s really heard of him? Now, not only has he had a role in the successful movie-musical HAIRSPRAY, not only has he joined the likes of John Lennon and Eminem as a Rolling Stone cover boy, but now EW.com is reporting that Efron has officially signed on for his first leading role in a feature film.

The movie is called SEVENTEEN, and it works as kind of a BIG in reverse. Efron will play a 36-year old man who wakes up in the body of a hot high school senior. The movie is being described as a ‘dramedy’ and will reunite Efron with his HAIRSPRAY director Adam Shankman, who’s got only a producing role in this one.

I can’t imagine how this will be done without being a little creepy. I’m imagining 36-year-old man gets transported into body of 17-year-old stud and then falls for 16-year-old girl. That translates to 36-year-old man in love with 16-year-old girl, doesn’t? I’m guessing the screenwriters were able to work around this, otherwise the title could refer to the amount of time Efron’s character does once he transforms back. Also, I doubt this would be the proper movie to introduce Efron to wider fanbase, as its being touted. It can be interesting to see how they pull this off.
