Eiza Gonzalez to join Fassbender, Schwarzenegger, & Hasselhoff for Kung Fury

BLOOM has announced that BABY DRIVER actor Eiza Gonzalez will be joining Michael Fassbender, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and David Hasselhoff in David Sandberg's KUNG FURY. Sandberg will also star in and produce under his Laser Unicorns banner, alongside Fassbender. The original KUNG FURY, which was a Kickstarter record-breaking bombshell, was selected for Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and has over 40 million views worldwide. The upcoming film is slated to be a sequel to the madcap original, which featured dinosaur law enforcement agents, killer robot arcade machines, unfathomable physics, and Adolf Hitler. The new movie is expected to begin filming this summer.

It’s 1985, the best year ever. Miami is kept safe under the watchful eye of Kung Fury, the greatest damn cop of all time. Kung Fury’s Thundercops are the ultimate police force assembled from across history to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler. After the tragic death of a Thundercop causes the group to disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon. Kung Fury must travel space and time itself to save his friends, defend the prestigious Miami Kung Fu Academy, and defeat evil once and for all. González plays Rey Porter, a confident reporter who asserts herself into the action.

In addition to her role in KUNG FURY, Eiza Gonzalez can be found acting in a series of upcoming projects such as THE WOMEN OF MARWEN, ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, HIGHWAY, and CUT THROAT CITY. She is currently filming her role as Amarna in the Alice Waddington-directed fantasy film PARADISE HILLS, and is set to star as Candelaria Ortiz in Andres Spinova's sci-fi fantasy television series GOD'S EQUATION.

The new KUNG FURY should be an interesting project to watch, for sure. There's no telling how the involvement of such star power will alter the property, as well as what a few extra dollars will mean for the film's effects budget. My hope is that KUNG FURY won't lose much of its B-movie charm during its production. The cast is killer, so far, and it seems as if everyone's heart is in the right place. Here's hoping that the almighty wallet doens't get in the way of making a great thing even better. We'll be sure to bring you any updates on the movie as they happen. For now, be sure to check out the original KUNG FURY, which is available to stream on a series of platforms across the net.
