Eli Roths’s Netflix series Hemlock Grove season 2 debut date revealed

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

While it garnered some mixed reviews amongst genre fans, I really got a kick out of Netflix's original series "Hemlock Grove" and was excited to hear that we would be getting a second season as I felt there was plenty more story to tell. Now IGN has learned when the Eli Roth-produced second season of "Hemlock Grove" will be heading our way!

IGN has revealed the premiere date for "Hemlock Grove: Season 2" with the horror series set to debut all 10 of its new episodes on Friday, July 11th in all Netflix territories. Famke Janssen (X-MEN), Bill Skarsgård (SIMON & THE OAKS), Landon Liboiron ("Terra Nova") and Dougray Scott (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II) are all back for Season 2, joining new cast member Madeline Brewer who was announced back in October.

IGN goes on to report that Season 2 of "Hemlock Grove" will feature some exciting new elements for the series, as we learn more about the bizarre and supernatural occurrences in the town of Hemlock Grove, Pennsylvania. Charles H. “Chic” Eglee, a veteran of series like "The Shield", "Dexter" and "The Walking Dead", has joined the show as an executive producer and showrunner, guiding a story that will find the town coming to grips with the shocking massacre in Season 1, only for dangerous new mysteries to arise.

While Season 2 involves the same central characters, it's also been designed to be accessible for new viewers. Hemlock Grove's first season was based on the book by Brian McGreevy, but Season 2 is branching off and venturing into its own original storyline, based on McGreevy's creations.

The first season got a lot of attention for the impressive and incredibly visceral werewolf transformation we saw Peter (Liboiron) go through, which contributed to the show’s Emmy nomination for its special effects. In Season 2, we’ll see something nearly every werewolf story avoids – a graphic look at a wolf changing back into a human.

We’ll also learn more about The White Tower and the experiments going on in there, and meet an important character, Miranda Cates (Orange is the New Black’s Madeline Brewer). Plus, while Hemlock Grove's body count continues to be high, we may learn that someone who appeared to be dead at the end of Season 1 actually made it out alive – besides Olivia, that is!

Eli Roth shared his excitement for the second season, stating…

“I cannot wait for fans to see what's in store for Season 2 – it is going to blow away all expectations. Netflix has been an incredible partner, and whenever we wanted to take the story in a dangerous direction, they encouraged us to go even further – into a scarier, darker, and sexier place. We guarantee you won't see anything like this anywhere else on television.”

I'm down! Look for "Hemlock Grove" to return to Netflix on July 11.
