Elle: The Legally Blonde prequel debuts a teaser trailer and images for the anticipated feel-good series

Before Amazon’s upfront presentation in New York, Prime Video is proud to present a teaser trailer and images for Elle, the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series, starring Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods, the beloved character originally played by Reese Witherspoon in the classic comedies. The series, produced by Amazon MGM Studios in association with Hello Sunshine, premieres on July 1, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Ahead of the series’ debut, Prime Video has also ordered a second season of Elle.

What’s Elle about?

Season One of Elle follows Elle Woods before she was a fish-out-of-water at Harvard. We meet her in 1995 as a fish in the tumultuous waters of high school, where she encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices. Through it all, Elle uses her family as a touchstone and forms an even tighter bond with her mother, proving that they can get through anything life throws their way as long as they have each other. With each challenge she faces, Elle grows closer to the Elle Woods we know and love today.

Created by Laura Kittrell (High School: The SeriesInsecure), Elle is co-showrun and executive-produced by Kittrell and Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Amanda Brown, and Marc Platt also serve as executive producers. Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) directed the first two episodes of Season One, and also serves as an executive producer. Bryan J. Raber and Asmita Paranjape serve as producers. Josie Craven and Jen Regan serve as supervising producers.

Who else stars in the Legally Blonde prequel series?

Elle stars Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother Eva, and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt, alongside Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz. Recurring cast members include Jessica Belkin, Danielle Chand, Matt Oberg, Chloe Wepper, Logan Shroyer, Sharon Taylor, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, and the late James Van Der Beek as Dean Wilson.

Elle could be a massive step for Minetree

I watched Legally Blonde for the first time last year (I know I’m late to the party) and thought it was delightful. I hope the high school version of Elle Woods shows some of the character’s pride, self-awareness, and skill, as she does in the original film, though perhaps those traits develop over time. Regardless, I could easily see Minetree owning this role. The job could catapult her into superstardom, provided the show is successful, and she knocks the part out of the park.

Reese Witherspoon announced Minetree’s casting last year, and it’s still one of the most adorable casting reveals I’ve ever seen. Watch a video of Witherspoon giving Minetree the great news below!
