TNT’s High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam limited series starring Joel Kinnaman gets an intense trailer and release date

As modern geopolitical tensions continue to flare across the globe, TNT is turning the clock back to one of the most defining and fraught military campaigns of the 21st century. Today, TNT unveiled the trailer and premiere date for High Value Target: The Hunt For Saddam, a new limited series inspired by the memoir Debriefing the President by CIA Analyst John Nixon.

The series, starring Joel Kinnaman as the first CIA officer to interrogate Saddam Hussein (played by Waleed Zuaiter) after his capture in December 2003, highlights one of the most sensitive exchanges in recent military history, with the complex reality of Hussein’s regime coming into sharper focus with each detail.

When does High Value Target come to TNT?

The series kicks off with a two-episode premiere on Sunday, September 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Episode three follows the next night, Monday, September 14, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with new episodes continuing to air Sundays and Mondays leading up to the season finale on Sunday, October 4.

Created by Daniel Stiepleman and Jonathan Wakeham, and written by Leslie Greif, Graham Sack, Daniel Stiepleman, and Jonathan Wakeham, High Value Target: The Hunt For Saddam finds Nixon coming face-to-face with Hussein in an attempt to uncover his secrets, including the whereabouts of weapons of mass destruction and the layout of a network of underground tunnels beneath Baghdad. While searching for answers, Nixon must come to grips with the U.S.’s invasion of Iraq and how the war would affect generations to come.

Remembering the war in Iraq

For those old enough to remember, the search for Hussein and its aftermath are impossible to forget. I recall the eerie nature of that era, especially his final moments, which became one of the earliest viral videos on the Internet as eyewitness cell phone footage spread across global networks. While the early 2000s feel like a lifetime ago, the tremors of the Iraq War still resonate today, particularly for the service members whose lives were irrevocably altered. Thank you for your service, brave ladies and gentlemen.
