Emilia Clarke hated working on Terminator: Genisys

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I’m just going to start this post out by telling you guys the truth. Personally, I couldn’t make it through TERMINATOR: GENISYS. I know you’re not supposed to turn movies off without finishing them, but I couldn’t do it. No way.  And it looks like my personal dislike for the film (the parts which I saw at least) is shared by none other than new Sarah Connor herself, Emilia Clarke.

Clarke recently was speaking to Vanity Fair about some STAR WARS movie or something, and eventually, she was asked about the failed TERMINATOR reboot. She didn’t have nice things to say:

[I watched director Alan Taylor get] eaten and chewed up on Terminator. He was not the director I remembered. He didn’t have a good time. No one had a good time.

For those who might not remember, TERMINATOR: GENISYS was co-written by Patrick Lussier (Director of MY BLOODY VALENTINE) and told the tale of a time:

When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance against Skynet, sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah (Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator assassin, an unexpected turn of events creates an altered timeline. Instead of a scared waitress, Sarah is a skilled fighter and has a Terminator guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger) by her side. Faced with unlikely allies and dangerous new enemies, Reese sets out on an unexpected new mission: reset the future.

Clarke even went on to say in the interview that she was “relieved” when the film bombed at the box office. After all, this meant that she never had to return to the madness for any sequels along with her co-stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, and Jai Courtney, who (drama-drama) she evidently dated on the set of the flick. Ouch.
