It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Emmanuelle Chriqui, and she's been cast a series regular opposite Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch for SUPERMAN & LOIS, the CW's upcoming superhero drama centering on the iconic DC couple. According to Deadline, Chriqui will play Lana Lang, a character who made her first comic book appearance in the pages of Superboy #10 (circa 1950) from DC Comics. In the past, Lang has been portrayed by a number of actresses for both film and television. To begin, Stacy Haiduk swooped onto the Superman scene as Lana for the ADVENTURES OF SUPERBOY, while Kristin Kreuk potrayed the character for the WB television series SMALLVILLE. Ms. Lang also appeared in SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE, and was played Diane Sherry. Last but certainly not least, Annette O'Toole arrived as Lana for SUPERMAN III, but we don't talk a whole lot about that sequel, for obvious reasons.

For the upcoming series, Hoechlin and Tulloch will reprise their roles as Superman and Lois, respectively. When the show superhero-lands on the CW, it will have Lois and Clark working alongside one another as they cope with the stress of working while also trying to raise their two sons. It's been said that at some point in the series, Clark will reconnect with Lana, whose last name is now Lang-Cushing and is a loan officer from Smallville Bank. When Lana enters the picture, it's been said that she'll do so while navigating "one of the most difficult periods of her life."

SUPERMAN & LOIS is executive produced by former THE FLASH showrunner Todd Helbing, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns. While the pilot episode for SUPERMAN & LOIS was expected to film in the spring for a May Upfronts debut, production has been placed on hold due to the ever-present coronavirus pandemic. In other casting news, Lois and Clark's two sons, Jonathan and Jordan, will be played by Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin, respectively.
