Earlier this year I got a sneak peek at some scenes from MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN and then had the chance to sit down with director Tim Burton and star Eva Green to talk about the film. Burton has been a cinematic hero of mine for decades and while he can be hit or miss at times, he's got a legacy of great work under his belt, many of which are rewatched year after year. Eva Green, who has left an impression since her debut in THE DREAMERS and later in CASINO ROYALE, Penny Dreadful, and my personal favorite 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE, where she played one of the best big-screen villains (in my book, anyway) ever. I talked with both Burton and Green about the making of the film, their approach to the material, and more!
First up is Tim Burton, who seems like the perfect choice to adapt the dark and quirky novel by Ransom Riggs. Burton talks about what appealed to him in making the film, how it compares to the comic-book genre, the human aspect of the characters, and talks about the return of Batman on the big screen.
Eva Green talks about Tim Burton's comparison to Miss Peregrine as a "scary Mary Poppins", as well as how she developed her character with the cast, and what the draw is in working with Tim Burton.
