Earlier this fall it was rumored that McG was circling TERMINATOR 4. He was on the “short list” of directors to direct the fourth installment in the TERMINATOR series and now we can exclusively report that McG has, in fact, signed on to direct TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS. We received a report last night about the signing from an inside source and we were able to independently confirm the news this morning. With McG at the helm, at least you can guarantee a good looking movie. Whether it’ll be any good remains to be seen. McG, for all his visual flair, has yet to really impress me, though he did make some strides with WE ARE MARSHALL. Warner Bros. recently gave the film a greenlight and is looking to get filming in “early 2008” for a summer 2009 release. The script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris (TERMINATOR 3) was locked in October due to the writer’s strike. The fourth film is described as being as big in siza and scale as TERMINATOR 3 but with a smaller budget now that Arnold Schwarzenegger is no longer part of the production (Claire Danes and Nick Stahl will not be returning either).
