Excl: Troll casting tease!

It’s fairly well known in the horror community that John Carl Buechler (CELLAR DWELLER, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD) is poised to remake his own 1986 fantasy-horror outing TROLL. Well, after recently sitting down with the man himself at a Paramount sit-and-eat (much more on that full story later), the man himself divulged a bit of tantalizing casting information.

While IMDB currently has Ali Lohan as a rumored attachment, the site also lists original cast member, long time horror stalwart Phil Fondacaro (GHOULIES II, HARD ROCK ZOMBIES) among the new players. And that follows suit with what Buechler was expressing, how he intends a large portion of the original cast to if not reprise their own role, show up in the new version in some form or fashion.

Actually, he taunted and teased a bit, adding he was not too far off from revealing a pretty major casting decision. Maybe they can reel in Tommy Cruise for the titular role. Or still yet, I can see Lohan playing the troll, you? More when we know it!

For those unfamiliar with the original film (co-written by Buechler and Ed Naha), it finds a wicked troll in search of a certain key that will transform him back to human life. This brings him into a San Francisco apartment (a city Buechler plans to reshoot in the new film, big ups to my old stomping ground!), where a powerful witch resides. Amidst all of this, a little boy and girl must try and figure out what the hell is going on and then, you know, do something about it.
