Last Updated on August 5, 2021

In this new series, we examine the very beginning of various comic book characters whose exploits began on the page and have since crossed over into film, TV, and animation. We take a look at how they developed throughout the years and what eventually made it to the big screen (or didn't). Join us as we open the book on some of the leading comic book characters who have made the leap from page to screen! Our first examination starts with none other than Marvel's Iron Man, which began his exploits in the pages of "Tales of Suspense" number 39 in 1963 and has since gone on to become a household name with his Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances starring the illustrious Robert Downey Jr.

"The truth is…I AM Iron Man."

Iron Man will next be seen on the big screen when he squares off against Cap in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR on May 6, 2016.
