The story of Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards, a notoriously tenacious British underdog ski jumper of the 1988 Olympics, is brought to us by director Dexter Fletcher. Fletcher is probably more well known for his acting roles in films like LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS and KICK-ASS, although EDDIE is a horse of an entirely different color. Bringing this heartfelt story to life is Hugh Jackman as the mentor, and up-and-comer Taron Egerton (KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE) as the titular Eagle. You can get a jump on their training with this exclusive featurette!.

As mentioned in our Sundance review (you can read it here), the chemistry between Jackman and Egerton is palpable. There's plenty of "darker" fare in theaters these days, so something uplifting (no pun intended) might do the trick for audiences. Don't get me wrong, we need our DEADPOOLs! But there's something refreshing about a film that wears its heart on its sleeve, and I think EDDIE THE EAGLE may prove to be the feel-good movie we all want it to be.

EDDIE THE EAGLE opens in theaters this Friday!
