Exclusive: It’s “Goonie time” in this clip from Cuban Fury with Nick Frost

JoBloJoBlo

Nick Frost is getting ready to dance his way onto the big screen, which probably isn't what you were expecting from the star of The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, which is what makes it all the more interesting. In CUBAN FURY, Frost plays a former salsa prodigy who attempts to make a comeback years after he gave it all up in an effort to win the heart of his new boss, played by Rashida Jones. However, he'll have to compete for her affections in more way than one, especially from his bullying co-worker, played by Chris O'Dowd. Today, we have a clip from the film, which has Frost getting ready for "Goonie time" when faced with the prospect of entering a salsa competition.

Check it out:

CUBAN FURY reminds me of those old-school '80's comedies that had the affectionate nerd trying to win the heart of the girl, while dealing with overwhelming odds that usually included a bullying jerk that also in contention for the same girl. It's an old genre trope, but the main sell is always the actors and the setting. Having Frost, Jones, and O'Dowd in a salsa dancing setting make for a good set-up and one that will likely be breezy, enjoyable, and with some good laughs.

CUBAN FURY opens in limited theaters on April 11, 2014.
