Hounds of Love Ben Young

An Australian serial killer film inspired by true crime stories that frightened writer/director Ben Young when he was a child, HOUNDS OF LOVE will be reaching theatres and VOD in North America on May 12th, courtesy of Gunpowder & Sky Distribution. Just over a month out from the theatrical release, we have gotten the EXCLUSIVE first look at the film's poster, which can be seen below.

In suburban Perth during the mid 1980s, people are unaware that women are disappearing at the hands of serial killer couple John and Evelyn White. After an innocent lapse in judgment, Vicki Maloney is randomly abducted by the disturbed couple. With her murder imminent, Vicki realizes she must find a way to drive a wedge between Evelyn and John if she is to survive. Hounds of Love is an exercise in expertly-crafted tension, offering a bold, challenging debut from writer/director Ben Young.

If you can make it out to the Tribeca Film Festival later this month, you'll have the chance to catch a screening of HOUNDS OF LOVE a few weeks before the rest of North America. Here's where and when the film will be showing:

4/20 – 9pm – Regal Cinemas Batter Park
4/21 – 10:15pm – Cinepolis Chelsea
4/24 – 10pm – Cinepolis Chelsea
4/25 – 10:15pm – Regal Cinemas Battery Park

Produced by Melissa Kelly, HOUNDS OF LOVE stars Ashleigh Cummings (who won the best actress prize at Venice), Emma Booth (who won best actress at Brussels), Stephen Curry, Susie Porter, Damian de Montemas, Harrison Gilbertson, and Fletcher Humphrys.

Judging by the trailer, this film looks to offer a twisted and troubling viewing experience, so I look forward to giving it a watch and letting it disturb me for a while.
