Eye Without a Face trailer brings Rear Window into the webcam age

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Writer/director Ramin Niami's upcoming thriller Eye Without a Face doesn't have anything to do with the 1960 film Eyes Without a Face. Instead, it's described as being a "modern twist on Rear Window", as it has a similar set-up to the one in the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock movie, but has the lead character watching people through their webcams instead of looking through their windows. The trailer is embedded above.

Here's the synopsis:

Henry, an agoraphobic and anxious young man living in Los Angeles, hacks into the webcams of various selected young women who inhabit the city. He watches over them in their daily lives, seeing himself as their guardian angel. When his new charming roommate Eric, a Youtuber and struggling actor pushes him to get out into the real world, he unknowingly puts Henry in danger. And as Henry starts to suspect one of the women he watches, Laura, of being a killer, everything starts to spiral out of control.

Eye Without a Face stars Dakota Shapiro, Luke Cook, and Vlada Verevko.

Niami had this to say about his film:

Nowadays, we are constantly being watched. On the radio, I heard about a female college student who found nude photos of herself on the Internet. The FBI discovered that her webcam was hacked and that a fellow college student had taken these images when she was changing in her college dorm room in revenge because she had rejected him for a date. This story inspired me to create a modern Rear Window."

Gravitas Ventures will be giving Eye Without a Face an On Demand and Digital release in the US and Canada on August 10th. HBO Central already brought the film to Poland, Czech Republic, Bosnia, and other territories back in April. Check out the trailer and see if this is a movie you'd like to watch.
