F. Gary Gray to direct hardcore action thriller Kane & Lynch?

F. Gary Gray might be reteaming with his LAW ABIDING CITIZEN actor Jamie Foxx for KANE & LYNCH, Millennium/Nu Image’s adaption of the popular video game. The project has been bumbling around for quite some time, found some traction when stunt coordinator/second unit director Simon Crane boarded it, but then lost footing again after Crane departed (creative differences, natch). Now HeatVisionBlog is reporting that Gray is at the top of the wish-list and is actively talking with the studio.

The game, and presumably the movie, follows Kane (Bruce Willis), a death row inmate who, along with a schizophrenic killer named Lynch (Foxx), is sprung by Kane’s former team so that he can retrieve a stolen fortune. Kane travels to Los Angeles, Japan and Cuba, with Lynch acting as the team’s watchdog in order to save his wife and daughter.

I thought LAW ABIDING CITIZEN was entertaining, though completely f*cking ridiculous. If Gray does indeed sign on, I’m sure we can expect the same kind of bloody, illogical mayhem on this flick. And I’ll take it!
