I’ll come out right now and say I’ve never truly “gotten” the animosity toward FRIDAY THE 13TH PART V: A NEW BEGINNING (aka THE INEXPLICABLE ATTACK OF ROY BURNS!). Yes, it’s pretty goddarn ridiculous that at the end of the film, it’s revealed that it’s not Jason Voorhees murdering people, but a disturbed paramedic – but outside of that revelation, it’s very much an effective FRIDAY entry. In fact, Roy the Paramedic is just as creative and bloodthirsty as Jason when it comes to mindlessly wreaking vengeance on kids he’s never even met.
In celebration of this under-appreciated… um, classic?, DEADPIT RADIO will be doing a special showcase on PART V, featuring interviews with the director, Danny Steinmann, as well as two of the actors. They’ll also be taking phone calls from fans of the flick (speak out, don’t let the haters get you down!).
