Fango does films?

Proof that horror will take over the world soon enough, Variety reports that Fangoria the magazine will soon become Fangoria the film company, as well. Fangoria Entertainment has established a feature division and tapped studio exec Brian Witten (who exec produced SPAWN, MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION and DARK CITY) to head up the banner, which will focus on original horror-genre projects as well as buddying up with studios for production and distribution of Fangoria-branded features.

The deal Fangoria Films is working on with talent agency CAA is to broker a deal that would net them $100 million to produce three to four films per year. In terms of cash, it sounds like a sort of Platinum Dunes thing.

Speaking of Platinum Dunes, Witten was one of the heads (actually, the head of Witten Films) working with the Michael Bay company on getting that FRIDAY THE 13TH remake/reimagining/waste of film made (it’s still classified as being in production). What does this deal mean for that film? Maybe nothing, but hey, you never know.
