Vera Farmiga (THE DEPARTED) has signed on to co-star with George Clooney in the upcoming comedy/drama UP IN THE AIR. Just last week we told you that Anna Kendrick had beat out Ellen Page for a role in the film. In the film, Clooney will play a businessman trying to collect one million frequent flier miles so he can retire and travel the world. Farmiga will play a businesswoman he meets along the way and falls in love with. (With Farmiga seemingly locked up as a love interest, it would seem that Kendrick would be playing Clooney’s younger sister who’s about to get married.) Jason Reitman (JUNO) adapted the novel by Walter Kirn and will direct the film for Paramount. Farmiga can currently be seen in THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS and later this holiday season in NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. Filming on UP IN THE AIR begins in February in St. Louis, Miami and Las Vegas.
