Now that the war for the Iron Throne is over, it's time for cinephiles to turn their attention back to 1998, the year Steven Spielberg released his visually-stunning and intensely emotional D-Day epic, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. It's been announced that this June, Fathom Events and Paramount Pictures will honor America's heroes with a special two-day theatrical presentation of SAVING PRIVATE RYAN at more than 600 U.S. theaters on Sunday, June 2, and, Wednesday, June 5. Additionally, Fathom will also host screenings of director Robert Zemeckis’ FORREST GUMP on June 23 and 25, with both films scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local start times.

Hailed as one of the greatest WWII films of all time, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN stars Tom Hanks, Edward Burns, Matt Damon and Tom Sizemore for a film that follows the Normandy Landings, as a group of U.S. soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action. At the close of its theatrical run, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN was marked as the highest-grossing film of 1998, and was later nominated for 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor (Tom Hanks), Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography, with Spielberg taking hom eht Best Director prize that year.

As for FORREST GUMP, the top-grossing film of 1994 starred Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson and Sally Field. In the multi-generation-spanning drama, Hanks' iconic character bumbles his way through both the Kennedy and Johnson presidencies, the events of Vietnam, Watergate, and other historical milestones that helped define a nation and its people. While Forrest might only have an IQ of 75, that's never stopped him from leaving his mark on American history, and Fathom is inviting everyone to enjoy the ride, again.

In addition to its two-day-only theatrical presentations from Fathom Events, FORREST GUMP will be available in a newly remastered two-disc Blu-ray beginning on May 7, and is also available on 4K Ultra HD and Digital. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN is available in a three-disc 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack and on Digital.

“These two films not only demonstrate why Tom Hanks is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood history, they are both among the most acclaimed and most popular movies of the 1990s,” said Fathom Events Vice President of Studio Relations Tom Lucas. “On the big screen, both ‘Saving Private Ryan’ and ‘Forrest Gump’ are incredible experiences and strengthen our robust line-up of classic film presentations for the year.”
