Featurette: Maika Monroe and Dane DeHaan discuss Quibi series The Stranger

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The Quibi streaming service launched earlier this month, and while I haven't taken advantage of their "90 day free trial" offer just yet, there are a couple shows on there that I'm going to have to watch soon. One of them is the anthology 50 States of Fright, produced by Sam Raimi, and the other is writer/director Veena Sud's twelve episode series The Stranger, which looks to be a modern day twist on THE HITCHER.

If you haven't checked Quibi out yet and want to see something that might push you to do so, check out The Stranger promo featurette embedded above, which includes interviews with stars Maika Monroe, Dane DeHaan, and Avan Jogia.

Monroe, who genre fans may known from THE GUESTIT FOLLOWS, and VILLAINS, plays

an unassuming young rideshare driver who is thrown into her worst nightmare when a mysterious Hollywood Hills passenger enters her car. Her terrifying ride with the stranger unfolds over 12 hours as she navigates the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles in a chilling game of cat and mouse.

DeHaan (A CURE FOR WELLNESS) plays the sociopath stranger that spends his night chasing Monroe through L.A. Jogia (ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP) is a clerk who gets caught in the middle of all this.

Quibi gets its name from the fact that it will offer "quick bites" of entertainment. Intended to be watched on your smart phone while you're on the go, episodes of Quibi shows will be in the range of 10 minutes or less. To get the 90 day free trial, you'll have to go to Quibi.com and download it to your phone.
