Edgar Wright’s horror-thriller Last Night in SoHo begins filming

Director Edgar Wright has had hit after hit. From SHAUN OF THE DEAD to HOT FUZZ to BABY DRIVER, Wright seems as if he can do no… wait for it… wrong. And today we have word that his new film LAST NIGHT IN SOHO starring Anya Taylor-Joy (THE WITCH, GLASS) has begun shooting.

On top of this update, we also have a look at the film's teaser poster… which isn't much to write home about. It's really just the film's title written out in neon. But hell, until we start to see some footage it will do, am I right? Check it out for yourself below and let us know what you think.

Wright and Krysty Wilson-Cairns (PENNY DREADFUL) penned the script for the movie which is being described as a "straight-up psychological horror thriller" that's influenced by the likes of DON'T LOOK NOW and REPULSION. We don't know any exact plot details at this time – other than the movie will obviously being set in London’s Soho district – but we will make sure to stay on top of the movie as it progresses and pass along word ASAP.

Wright said this about the film:

I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I've spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years. With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you've lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.

Joining Taylor-Joy are former Doctor Who Matt Smith (TERMINATOR: GENISYS) and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie (LEAVE NO TRACE, THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES). The film is being co-financed by Focus Features and Film4. Wright is producing with Nira Park, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner. Focus Features and Universal Pictures International will be handling the distribution. Filming is now underway.
