Edgar Wright’s psychological horror-thriller gets title and Anya Taylor-Joy

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

A week or so ago we passed along the awesome news that SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ director Edgar Wright was going to be helming a straight-up horror film next, following his much-loved action movie BABY DRIVER. And today we have more details on the upcoming thriller via Variety, which will be going by the title LAST NIGHT IN SOHO. The coolest bit of news though is that the movie will officially star Anya Taylor-Joy!

Wright and Krysty Wilson-Cairns (PENNY DREADFUL) penned the script for the movie which is being described as a "straight-up psychological horror thriller" that's influenced by the likes of DON'T LOOK NOW and REPULSION. We don't know any exact plot details at this time – other than the movie will obviously being set in London’s Soho district – but we will make sure to stay on top of the movie as it progresses and pass along word ASAP.

Wright said this about the film:

I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I've spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years. With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you've lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in."

One important thing to note is that Taylor-Joy is said to be playing "one of the leads" so I guess we can expect to get some equally badass casting news in the next few days weeks regarding who else will be in the cast. Personally, I cannot wait as this movie is already near the top of my must-see list and I can't imagine anyone will make me turn away from it. Yes, even Carrot Top would be okay at this point.

Production is expected to start this summer in London.
