Filmmaker David Fincher (FIGHT CLUB, SEVEN) adds a lot of projects to his Friends list, but very few seem to get any real love. But the same can’t be said of THE SOCIAL NETWORK (i.e., THE FACEBOOK MOVIE), with which he’s most recently flirted.
According to End of Show (a site that I’ve never heard of and seems infrequently updated), the movie will officially start rolling in October with a $47m budget. Columbia most likely wants the film in theaters before Facebook loses (more) relevancy to Twitter, Frizzle, Presto, or whatever the hell the next short-lived networking fad becomes.
The script comes from Aaron Sorkin (“The West Wing”) and is based in part on “The Accidental Billionaires”, writer Ben Mezrich’s not-exactly-true “recreation” of Facebook’s origins.
