Silent Night: First-look image released from director John Woo’s first U.S. action film in over a decade

Director John Woo is setting up his return to U.S. action films with his latest effort Silent Night and we now have a first-look image from the film which returns him to the genre in the U.S. for the first time in over a decade.

Pictured in the image is Joel Kinnaman, who plays Godlock in Silent Night. Kinnaman plays a father on a mission to avenge his young son who was tragically caught in the crossfire of gang violence on Christmas Eve. Shot and nearly killed while in pursuit of the murderers, Godlock vows to avenge his son by any means necessary. You can see the image pictured at the head of this story.

Silent Night just recently wrapped up principal photography in Mexico City, per Variety, and the film also stars Scott Mescudi, otherwise known as Kid Cudi to all the kids out there, Harold Torres, and Cataline Sandino Moreno. Capstone Global is currently selling the action-thriller at Cannes.

John Woo is probably one of the most iconic action directors to come out of Asia and he has had a slew of hits in the U.S. including Hard Target, Broken Arrow, Face/Off, and Mission: Impossible II. Woo has a signature style that has been highly praised and he’s frequently looked at as one of the best action movie directors in the business. I’m definitely interested in what Silent Night has to offer.

Are YOU excited for John Woo’s return to U.S. action movies with Silent Night?
