Vincent Cassel as a MONK? I’m already pissin’ in me panties!
Slated for a June 16th release in France is Dominik Moll’s salacious new thriller THE MONK, for which the first quad-poster has been erected. Essentially mirroring a still we threw at you last month, this looks to be a promo-sales poster. The reflected light makes it seem like someone snapped this shot from lobbycard or something. Still, it proves the film is inching along.

THE MONK recounts the diabolical decline of Ambrosio (Cassel), a Capuchin superior, who succumbs first to temptations offered by a young girl who has entered his monastery disguised as a boy, and continues his descent with increasingly depraved acts of sorcery, murder, incest and torture. Combining sensationalism with acute psychological insight, this masterpiece of Gothic fiction is a powerful exploration of how violent and erotic impulses can break through the barriers of social and moral restraint.
Sorcery, incest, murder and torture? That should be the film’s title, don’t you think? Could work…
