David O. Russell’s follow up to THE FIGHTER looks to be a similar “heartfelt” drama, albeit with a little more quirk.  SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, based on the novel by Matthew Quick, stars Bradley Cooper as a recovering mental patient who bonds with a similarly affected girl in the form of Jennifer Lawrence.  With an impressive supporting cast including Robert DeNiro, Julia Stiles, John Ortiz, and, strangely enough, Chris Tucker, the pic looks pretty good in that quirky drama vein.

Take your meds:

Color me impressed.  What I think works here is the chemistry between Cooper and Lawrence and their playful, off-kilter banter will likely be the highlight of the film.  Also, Jennifer Lawrence wears yoga pants and there’s a dance number at the end, so really, what else could you want besides a guest appearance from Christian Bale as Dicky Eklund?  Truly, I love a good, quirky dramedy.

Here’s the MOVIE synopsis:

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is set for release on November 21, 2012.
