First trailer for Saban’s Power Rangers teases a promising romp

The first trailer for Saban's POWER RANGERS has dropped and it's pretty legit. For one, it doesn't give you the whole movie in one trailer. Far from it, in fact. It's actually more of a teaser than a trailer and as a first look, an effective one at that. Directed by Dean Israelite (PROJECT ALMANAC) and starring Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger), and Becky G. (Yellow Ranger), along with Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bryan Cranston as Zordon, and Bill Hader as Alpha 5, this flick looks full of promise. Check out the (teaser) trailer and let's talk some more about this.

"I've killed Rangers beforeā€¦"

I mean, pretty cool, right? Yeah, I wanted to see how the action would shape up in comparison to the cheesiness of the many shows, but the set-up looks to be a straightforward and fairly serious in tone adaptation, which is pretty damn cool. I have no doubt that seeing them in full costume and kicking ass will be just as cool and love that I actually want to see more. Really, this is how every trailer should start out. Give us a set-up, establish the tone, tease some coolness, and save a shit-ton for later. As a mostly non-fan of the Power Rangers growing up (missed my age bracket), I have little stake in the characters, but with this teaser (and the posters) I'm ready for the Rangers.

You can go-go see the POWER RANGERS on March 24, 2017.
