First trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s pandemic thriller Contagion shows symptoms of greatness

What a cast! I mean, seriously. Steven Soderbergh’s CONTAGION boasts the big, up-front names like Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lawrence Fishburne, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard, and Kate Winslet. But it’s also got Bryan Cranston, John Hawkes, and Elliot Gould! F*cking great.

And while it feels like this story or variations of it have been told a lot in recent years, there’s something to Soderbergh’s approach – the style, the intensity, and the gravity – that makes this still somehow fresh and scary. I’m definitely diggin’.

CONTAGION opens September 9th.

Synopsis: “Contagion” follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.
