Star Bruce Campbell explained why the score has been reimagined:

Mixing the sound for EVIL DEAD in the early 80’s, we were forced to shove everything into one monaural box. As a result, Joe LoDuca’s great score had to compete unfairly with Kandarian Demons, gore sound effects and lots of screaming. With this new release, Joe can finally have his dynamic composition mixed, balanced and featured properly – for perhaps the first time ever!"

THE EVIL DEAD was LoDuca's first film commission, and the composer said he was happy to be able to take a new approach to the score after decades of working in the industry.

Grindhouse Releasing owner Bob Murawski says the new music, new sound mix, and 4K restoration work together to "elevate EVIL DEAD from the scary to the sublime."

If you're interested in having this new experience in grueling horror, search for a theatre close to you on the list above. If you don't see one close, don't give up hope – theatre owners who are interested in showing this version of THE EVIL DEAD can still contact Grindhouse's theatrical sales director David Szulkin at info@grindhousereleasing.com to set up a screening, and more dates will be announced soon.
