Foreign thrillers Shock Labyrinth and Amer get DVD release dates in the UK

Two very different types of international thrillers have just been given their UK DVD release dates. AMER, the giallo-tinged arthouse film from Belgium, and SHOCK LABYRINTH, Takashi Shimizu’s 3D frightfest are, in fact, coming out on the same date: JANUARY 31st. AMER will be issued on Blu-ray and DVD, while SHOCK – as of now – seems to be only coming out on the latter format.

AMER’s special features have not been announced yet; SHOCK LABYRINTH will include both the 2D and 3D versions of the film, along with two pairs of 3D glasses. Other supplemental material is being kept under wraps for right now.

AMER had a very brief theatrical run here in the States in late October, while SHOCK never made it to these cinemas. It did roll out internationally, however, starting in Shimizu’s native Japan in October of ’09 and hitting other countries throughout this past summer.

All that said, there’s no word yet on a Region 1 release for either film, but one would like to assume that they’ll come out roughly around the same time next year. (AMER is more likely to get a definitive release thanks to its stateside run.)
