Fright Night director Craig Gillespie in talks to helm Pride & Prejudice & Zombies?

Another month, another name in the ring…

A couple weeks ago we heard the real reason behind David O. Russell’s departure from adapting PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES to the big-screen. A week before that, we heard Mike White had to dump the project due to scheduling snafu with HBO. So, where does that leave the film version of Seth Grahame-Smith’s literary mash-up?

According to Vulture, in the hands of one Craig Gillespie (LARS AND THE REAL GIRLS, FRIGHT NIGHT)!

At this time, Gillespie (seen right) is only in talks to direct PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES for Lionsgate, but right now he’s the favorite.

It’s certainly an interesting choice, Gillespie is currently batting .500 (LARS AND THE REAL GIRL a critical hit, MR. WOODCOCK a strikeout). We’ll have to see what he does with the FRIGHT NIGHT remake (stay tuned for extensive reportage on that film from yours truly), but it’s clear the dude isn’t averse to taking on offbeat material. Truth be told, I think he’s a better choice than White…and possibly as good a choice as O. Russell.

You agree? Disagree? Why?
